When the Anaheim Ducks started in the NHL they were owned by Disney and their famous logo with wild wing in the center was the first Jersey they wore on the ice. This Jersey stayed with them for several years until Disney sold the team and franchise to Susan and Henry Samueli. The Ducks then went through there first rebrand with the webbed foot logo and have had that logo since they won the Stanley cup in 2007.
Two weeks before the Stanley cup finals, rumors began to swirl about two teams in the NHL getting a rebrand which included the LA kings and the Anaheim Ducks. The Kings revealed their rebrand Jerseys revealing a nod to the past on June 27th around 9:00am. An hour later around 10:00am, the Anaheim Ducks revealed their rebrand jersey which depicted the Ducks original logo from 1993 with a much needed upgrade in design and color. The Anaheim Ducks stated that they decided on a "Tribute to their legacy with eyes on the future."(-Anaheim Ducks) for not just Anaheim but the Orange County. This was a smart move on the organizations part as they will continue to draw in fans not just from Anaheim but beyond the Orange County region. The Ducks have roots extend deep into the heart of San Diego as well, with their AHL team, the San Diego Gulls. The Gulls also got a small upgrade to their jerseys which includes the new Anaheim Ducks logo as a patch on their shoulder.
The majority of fans were thrilled to see the 1993 logo return regardless of the upgrade and were raving online about how good the Jersey's look. This certainly feels like a new start for Anaheim a they look forward to continuing to improve with the OC vibe coming to the Honda center's surrounding area in the next few years. The Anaheim Ducks have found a way to become mighty once again and now that they have more young talent joining their team in the upcoming season, Anaheim's Hockey future looks incredibly bright. What a time to be an Anaheim Ducks fan. May the Ducks stay forever mighty.
Fans will be celebrating their teams rebrand June 30th at Honda center and are looking forward to an exciting new season with new players, new merch and more community. #LETSGODUCKS #FLYTOGETHER
